• Samudra Pradakshina:Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today flagged in Samudra Pradakshina, the first-ever tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition, through video conferencing. Nine women officers of the three Services returned to Mumbai aboard the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni after completing a 314-day voyage covering over twenty five thousand nautical miles across four oceans.
• INS Malvan:The Indian Navy inducted the second Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft of the Mahe class, INS Malvan, at Karwar in Karnataka today. This is a significant achievement in India’s indigenous warship building. Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, was the chief guest at the ceremony.INS Malvan, an anti-submarine watercraft built by Cochin Shipyard under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat mission, uses more than 80 percent indigenous equipment and technology. Armed with RBU 6000 rockets and DRDO torpedoes and a German-Indian sonar suite, it can play a dominant role in guarding our undersea defence.

• President Droupadi Murmu today unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Museum of the City of Skopje during her state visit to North Macedonia.
• India Receives 21st MH-60R Seahawk Helicopter:The United States delivered the 21st MH-60R Seahawk maritime helicopter to the Indian Navy at Kochi, Kerala.India had signed a Foreign Military Sales agreement in February 2020 for 24 MH-60R helicopters worth approximately US$2.6 billion.The MH-60R is popularly known as the “Romeo”.The helicopters strengthen India's:

• India Becomes 123rd Member of WTO Fisheries Subsidies Agreement:India became the 123rd member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies (AFS) after depositing its Instrument of Acceptance.The agreement was adopted at the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC12) in Geneva in June 2022 and entered into force on 15 September 2025.The agreement aims to curb harmful fisheries subsidies associated with illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, overfished stocks and destructive fishing practices.

• Integration of DPI for Rural Land Governance and Digital Lending:The Department of Land Resources (DoLR) partnered with the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH) to link digital land registry records with the Unified Lending Interface (ULI), enabling friction-free agricultural credit and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) issuance.
• Government Raises Windfall Tax on Diesel and ATF Exports:The Government of India revised the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on petroleum exports with effect from 16 July 2026.The revised rates were:
• Diesel exports ₹8.5/litre to  ₹15.5/litre
• ATF exports ₹7.5/litre to ₹14.5/litre
• Petrol exports ₹4/litre to ₹2.5/litre

• Location & Activity Limits: NGOs must declare the exact states and specific activities (from a fixed legal schedule) where foreign funds will be used. Existing NGOs have one year to update this.
• No Religious Conversion: While faith-based work, scripts, and community kitchens are allowed, the rules explicitly ban proselytisation (religious conversion) using foreign funds.
• The 75% Spending Rule: If operating via Prior Permission, you must utilize at least 75% of your current installment before the next batch of funds is released.
• The ₹10 Lakh License Rule: To renew an FCRA license, an NGO must have spent at least ₹10 lakh on its declared goals over the previous two financial years.
• Strict Control on Top Bosses: The term "key functionary" now includes trustees, directors, and partners. Organizations with foreign nationals in these roles will ordinarily be denied a license.
• Digital & Donor Footprint: NGOs must disclose all official websites, social media handles, and publications. They must also trace and name the ultimate original donor if funds come via intermediaries.
• Programme BHARATI :The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has successfully concluded the first cohort of its flagship export acceleration programme, Bharat’s Hub for Agritech, Resilience, Advancement and Incubation for Export Innovation (BHARATI). The Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that the initiative aims to foster innovation-led growth in the agri-food export sector. It also aimed to support India’s target of achieving 50 billion US dollars in exports of APEDA-scheduled products by 2030.
• The two-day Textiles Summit 2026 organised by the Ministry of Textiles, concluded in New Delhi today. The summit brought together representatives from State Governments, industry, and academia, fostering collaborative dialogue on the sector’s growth and future roadmap.

The Jal Shakti Ministry said that the Management Plans are supported as part of the Namami Gange Programme.

• PM commissions three indigenously designed and built naval ships – INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray at Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata, West Bengal.
1. INS Dunagiri (Project 17A Stealth Frigate)-As the fifth stealth frigate under the Project 17A class, it is built to engage aerial, surface, and underwater threats. It is heavily armed with BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles and medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.
2. INS Sanshodhak (Survey Vessel Large): As the fourth and final ship in the Survey Vessel Large program, it uses advanced hydrographic equipment, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to map deep waters and coastal regions.
3. INS Agray (ASW Shallow Water Craft): A specialized hunter designed to neutralize underwater threats in coastal and shallow waters.It is the fourth vessel of the Arnala-class, it is equipped with shallow-water sonar systems, lightweight torpedoes, and indigenous rocket launchers.
• The 5th India Space Congress (ISC 2026) was held from June 15–17, 2026, at Le Méridien in New Delhi. Organized by the Space Industry Association–India (SIA-India), the three-day event drew over 1,000 delegates and 200 experts from 25 countries to accelerate India's burgeoning space economy.
• The newly launched Indian Space Industry E-Catalogue is expected to support startups, MSMEs and established companies participating in India's growing space economy.

• Jharkhand Gets GI Tags for 11 Traditional Products-Jharkhand’s rich cultural heritage has received a major boost with 11 traditional products from the state being granted Geographical Indication, or GI, tags.
• The newly recognised products include Bhoya Saree and Fabric, Kuchai Silk Saree, Kesaria Kalakand, Dokra Craft, Tumka Chadar, Baroni Paintings, Munda Jewellery, Jharkhand Bamboo Craft, Tussar Silk and Sarees, Jadopatia Painting, and Pancho Saree and Fabric.
• Pahili Raja festival begins in Odisha, marking onset of monsoon and Ashadha month.In Odisha, the three-day Raja festival began today with the celebration of Pahili Raja, ushering in the onset of the monsoon and the Odia month of Ashadha. The festival symbolises reverence for Mother Earth and reflects the state's rich agrarian traditions.

International

• Israel Attacks Hezbollah Targets in Beirut-The Israeli military today announced that it launched strike on Lebanese capital targeting infrastructure of Iran-backed armed group Hezbollah.
• US President Donald Trump has said a deal aimed at ending the conflict with Iran is scheduled to be signed today, adding that the strategic Strait of Hormuz would be open to all immediately afterwards.
• Switzerland is set to vote in a referendum today on limiting its population size. Swiss voters will decide whether to cap the country's population at 10 million. If the proposal passes, Switzerland would become the first European country to set a limit on its population.
• Iranian authorities have announced the schedule for the farewell, procession and burial ceremonies of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to Iran's News Agency, farewell ceremonies for the late Khamenei will be held on July 4 and 5 at the Imam Khomeini Prayer Grounds in Tehran.
• SIPRI Report 2026-The SIPRI Yearbook 2026, released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), highlights a global pivot toward nuclear modernization and an increased operational deployment of nuclear weapons. States are increasingly relying on nuclear weapons amid heightened escalation risks, reversing decades of reduction efforts.
• Total Warheads: The world’s nine nuclear-armed states (the US, Russia, UK, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel) possess an estimated 12,121 nuclear warheads. 
• Deployed Warheads: Approximately 3,904 of these warheads are operationally deployed with missiles or aircraft, an increase from previous years.
• India modestly expanded its nuclear stockpile to an estimated 190 warheads by early 2026, slightly surpassing Pakistan’s estimated 170 warheads.

• In Archery, India's Dhiraj Bommadevara and teenager Kumkum Mohod clinched the gold medal in recurve mixed team event at the World Cup Stage 3 at Antalya in Turkiye today. The Indian duo produced a brilliant display to upset reigning Olympic champions Oh Ye-jin and Kim Je-deok of South Korea.
• At 15 years and 71 days old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made history by earning his maiden call-up to the senior Indian men's T20I squad for the tours of Ireland and England, alongside the Asian Games. He shattered Sachin Tendulkar's 36-year-old record, becoming the youngest player ever selected to represent the Indian team.

• Launch of drone-based mail transmission service in Himachal Pradesh-Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced the launch of drone-based mail transmission service by Department of Posts in Himachal Pradesh. The service was started yesterday between Mandi Head Post Office and Rehardhar Branch Post Office in the State. Ministry of Communications has said that the Department of Posts has planned the deployment of drone-based mail transmission across around 150 identified routes in Himachal Pradesh and Assam over the next two to three months.
• Inaugural batch of pilgrims for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 flagged off from New Delhi-The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is a highly revered pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in Tibet. Organized annually between June and September, the arduous journey requires excellent physical fitness to traverse altitudes exceeding 5,000 meters. Pilgrims travel via government-sponsored routes or private heli-tours through Nepal and India.
• El Niño :The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that El Niño conditions are present over the equatorial Pacific Ocean and are expected to strengthen further during the Southwest Monsoon season.El Niño is a naturally occurring climate pattern characterized by the unusual warming of sea surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean. It represents the "warm phase" of a larger, irregular cycle known as the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO), whereas La Niña represents the cool phase. Arising every two to seven years and typically lasting 9 to 12 months, El Niño temporarily triggers major disruptions in global weather, ecosystems, and economies.
• Nipah outbreak in Keralam, -In the wake of the Nipah outbreak in Keralam, experts from the National Centre for Disease Control reached Kozhikode district today to review the containment measures.Nipah virus is a severe, sometimes fatal zoonotic disease that spreads from animals to humans, causing fever, respiratory illness, and brain swelling (encephalitis).
• The natural hosts are fruit bats (Pteropus species). In India, periodic outbreaks occur, often linked to direct exposure to infected bats or contaminated raw date palm sap.Fatality Rate.
• The case fatality rate is high, typically estimated between 40% and 75%.

• Under India’s Chairship, 16th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting Concludes in Indore, Madhya Pradesh-The 16th BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting was successfully convened on 12–13 June 2026 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India, under the Presidency of India.The meeting concluded with unanimous adoption of the BRICS Agriculture Ministers’ Joint Declaration, reflecting the collective vision, shared commitments, and consensus achieved through extensive consultations among member countries.
• The Prime Minister of India is scheduled for a historic state visit to Slovakia, marking the first-ever official bilateral visit by an Indian PM to the landlocked Central European nation since its independence in 1993.

• ‘Project Ganga’ -Uttar Pradesh government today launched ‘Project Ganga’ which will ensure last-mile digital connectivity in rural areas while expanding opportunities in digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, skill development, and technology-based employment.Under Project Ganga, a comprehensive network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs) will be developed across the state.
• Government has proposed an interim budget allocation of 95,692 crore rupees to states and union territories to ensure a smooth transition from MNREGA to Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-G RAM G). The Act will come into force across the country with effect from 1st of July.
• ‘Vinimay’-Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Land Port Management System (LPMS), ‘Vinimay’, in New Delhi to digitize and streamline cargo processing and passenger movement across India’s land borders on Tuesday. The system is a digital platform designed to integrate operations across land ports into a unified system. It will enable secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, bringing land ports on a par with digital systems already in place at airports and seaports.
• Defence Ministry clears 250 MW solar-BESS project on defence land in Uttar Pradesh-The Defence Ministry said that this is the first-of-its-kind project undertaken by the Ministry, involving the development of a large-scale solar power generation facility with integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) support on defence land.
• Assam Government, EU Launch Blue Valley Cluster in Guwahati-The Government of Assam and the European Union today jointly launched the Blue Valley Cluster in Guwahati, focusing on Flavours, Fragrance and AYUSH sectors. The initiative aims to strengthen cooperation between Europe, Assam and the wider North-East region in developing sustainable value chains, innovation ecosystems and industrial partnerships.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi is India's longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister. He officially surpassed the previous record held by Jawaharlal Nehru by crossing 4,399 consecutive days in office. First assuming office on May 26, 2014, he secured consecutive terms in the 2019 and 2024 general elections. While Jawaharlal Nehru served for a longer total period (over 16 years from 1947 to 1964), his tenure began before the first democratic general elections were held in independent India. • First Export of GI-Tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai-The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, facilitated the first export consignment of GI-tagged Tezpur Litchi from Assam to Dubai on 7 June 2026, marking a significant milestone in expanding international market access for agricultural products from the North Eastern Region.The Geographical Indication (GI) status has strengthened the identity and market recognition of Tezpur Litchi, enhancing its appeal among international buyers and creating new opportunities for premium agricultural exports from Assam.
• Historic Breakthrough Achieved at Zojila Tunnel Project;-Zojila Tunnel to Establish All-Weather Connectivity Between Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; Strategic Infrastructure Push to Accelerate Regional Development, Tourism, Trade and National Security.The breakthrough marks a major milestone in India's road infrastructure development and brings the country closer to realizing year-round connectivity between Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

• PM Modi to Embark on 6-Day Visit to France and Slovakia on Saturday-In the first leg of the visit, the Prime Minister will visit Nice for a bilateral meeting with President Emmanuel Macron .In Nice, both leaders will also jointly inaugurate the ‘Bharat Innovates’ event, which will bring together top innovation startups and Venture Capital funds from India, France, and other countries.On the second leg of his visit, Mr Modi will pay a State Visit to the Slovak Republic . This will be the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993.

• India observes the martyrdom day of the revered tribal freedom fighter and folk hero, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, on June 9. He passed away in Ranchi jail on June 9, 1900, at the young age of 25, leaving behind an immortal legacy of resistance against colonial oppression. Between 1899 and 1900, Birsa Munda led the historic 'Ulgulan' (The Great Tumult) rebellion against the British authorities and local oppressors.
