National

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi today disbursed incentives worth two thousand four hundred crore rupees under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) at a function in New Delhi. This disbursal marks a significant milestone in the implementation of the PM-VBRY, which is the government’s flagship employment-linked incentive scheme aimed at accelerating job creation, enhancing employability and expanding social security coverage across sectors.
  • Right to movement guaranteed under Article 19 (1) (d) :The Supreme Court today ruled that the right to walk on a demarcated footpath is a fundamental right. A bench of justices PS Narasimha and AS Chandurkar held that a citizen’s fundamental right to walk on a demarcated footpath is primary and shall have priority over movement by motorised vehicles. In a significant verdict, the apex court said, it forms part of the right to movement guaranteed under Article 19 (1) (d) and other fundamental rights, including Article 21- Right to life and liberty.
  • The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth four hundred twenty five crore rupees with Bharat Forge Limited, Pune for the acquisition of 12 sets of 1.25 Mega Watt Marine Gas Turbine Generators for the Indian Navy.Marine gas turbine generators are high-power, onboard electrical power systems. They convert fuel energy into mechanical power, which is then used by generators to supply electricity for shipboard operations or propulsion. They are highly valued in naval fleets for their power density, quick-start capabilities, and reliability.
  • CyHawk 5.0,:Delhi Police has informed that under Operation CyHawk 5.0, nine hundred sixteen people have been arrested in connection with various online frauds and cybercrimes.Addressing the media, Joint Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations, Rajneesh Gupta said that the two-day nationwide operation began on the 16th of this month, during which 715 raiding teams carried out coordinated operations across 21 states and Union Territories, including Delhi.
  • HPV Vaccine:Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has said that the nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination drive has achieved nearly 50 lakh doses in just three months.The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a highly effective, preventive immunization that protects against the strains of the HPV virus responsible for almost all cervical cancers, several other anogenital and throat cancers, and genital warts.India has launched a nationwide, free-of-cost HPV vaccination campaign for girls aged 14 years, utilizing a single-dose regimen of the Gardasil-4 vaccine. The vaccine is available at designated government health facilities. Additionally, multiple HPV vaccines are accessible to the broader public through private hospitals and clinics.
  • POSH Act:National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued an advisory to all States and Union Territories, calling for the immediate and effective implementation of comprehensive measures under the Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act).
  • Maharashtra's School Education Department today signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Google for Education to provide artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology training to more than four lakh teachers across the state over the next 18 month.

International

  • India to assume Vice-Presidency of the Financial Action Task Force for the first time-In a landmark recognition of India’s growing leadership in the global fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, Shri Vivek Aggarwal, a 1994-batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (Madhya Pradesh cadre) and presently Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Culture, has been elected and appointed Vice-President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). This is the first time that India will hold the Vice-Presidency of the FATF.

  • World Boxing Cup 2026:Indian boxers continued their impressive run at the World Boxing Cup 2026 in Guiyang, China, assuring the country of six medals after a strong quarterfinal performance.In the women’s events, Prachi advanced to the semifinals with a 4-1 win over Chinese Taipei’s Shih Yi Wu In 57 kg category, while in 51kg bout Minakshi defeated Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkibekova 5-0. Meanwhile, In 48 kg category Jyoti and Jugnoo in 85kg division had already assured India of podium finishes after advancing to the semi-finals.In Mens category, Deepak outclassed Azerbaijan’s Nabi Isgandarov with a unanimous 5-0 decision in 70 kg bout, While In 55kg category Nikhil also impressed with a dominant 5-0 win over Azerbaijan’s Amin Mammadzada to progress to the semifinals.

  • Observed annually on June 19, World Sickle Cell Awareness Day is a global health campaign dedicated to raising public understanding of Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). It highlights early diagnosis, patient support, and the urgent need for equitable, specialized healthcare for affected families.
  • Today is National Reading Day. The day is celebrated annually on this day to honour the birth anniversary of Puthuvayil Narayana Panicker, the father of the Library Movement in Keralam. Started as a Reading Day observance on June 19, 1996, by the Government of Keralam in association with the P N Panicker Foundation, the initiative evolved into a mass movement promoting literacy and fostering a culture of reading across the state. In 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the National Reading Day and Reading Month celebrations during his visit to Kochi giving national recognition to the Reading Day observance.
  • The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) today celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, members of the internet community, academia, and technology experts to reflect on India's digital journey and discuss the future of internet-led growth.
