  • META to set up first AI-enabled data centre in India with Reliance Industries in Gujarat’s Jamnagar-Facebook’s parent company META today announced that it will establish its first AI-enabled data centre in India. As part of the agreement, META and Reliance Industries will build a data centre with 168 megawatts of capacity at Jamnagar in Gujarat, which META will lease, with options to scale.
  • HM Amit Shah inaugurates Land Port Management System 'Vinimay' for digital border management-Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Land Port Management System (LPMS) – Vinimay in New Delhi yesterday, marking a major step towards digitising and streamlining cargo processing and passenger movement across India’s land borders.
    • The Land Port Management System, Vinimay, is a digital platform designed to integrate operations across land ports into a unified ecosystem. The system will facilitate secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information among stakeholders, bringing land ports at par with advanced digital systems operational at airports and seaports. The platform is expected to improve operational efficiency, enhance ease of doing business and ensure seamless movement of goods and passengers across India’s international land borders.
  • Varanasi becomes first city under Easy Connect model for international travel: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu-Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has announced that Varanasi now enables international travellers to complete immigration and baggage formalities before reaching Delhi and connect seamlessly onwards to destinations across the world.Varanasi is the first city to be integrated into the Easy Connect flights model.
  • RISA store-The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, through the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED), today unveiled RISA - Timeless Tribal, a dedicated premium brand for tribal textiles, embroideries and handicrafts, and inaugurated the exclusive RISA Store at Gallery No. 2, Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhawan, Connaught Place, New Delhi.

  • 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland.-Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje led the Indian delegation at the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Artemis III mission-NASA has announced names of three US astronauts and one Italian astronaut as the crew for its next Artemis III, a spacecraft docking demonstration mission scheduled for late next year that will test lunar landers from SpaceX and Blue Origin in orbit for the first time. 
    • US astronauts Andre Douglas, Frank Rubio and Randy Bresnik and Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano of the European Space Agency will be the crew for Artemis III.
    •  The four-man mission will test moon landers from Elon Musk’s SpaceX and Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin for the first time in space, setting up a delicate docking demonstration one by one.

  • Government Extends Validity of Credit Guarantee Scheme for Microfinance Institutions 2.0(CGSFMI- 2.0)-The Government has approved an extension in the validity of the Credit Guarantee Scheme for Microfinance Institutions-2.0 up to 31st August of this year or till guarantees for an amount of 20 thousand crore rupees are issued. The scheme aims to provide credit guarantee support through National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited to strengthen lending to Microfinance Institutions(MFI) and facilitate increased credit flow of up to 20 thousand crore rupees to Non-Banking Financial Company-Microfinance Institutions (NBFC-MFI).

  • The Jai Prakash Narayan Bird Sanctuary (Surha Tal) in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, has been designated as India’s 100th Ramsar site. - This wetland is rich in avifaunal biodiversity, attracting several migratory and resident birds. 
    • A Ramsar site is a wetland of international importance designated under the Ramsar Convention. Established in 1971 in Ramsar, Iran, this global environmental treaty focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands to protect vital biodiversity and provide critical habitats for migratory waterfowl.
  • The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (Plant a Tree in Mother's Name) campaign is a major nationwide environmental initiative launched by the Government of India on World Environment Day (June 5, 2024).The campaign encourages citizens to plant a sapling as a tribute to their mothers, beautifully linking love for one's mother with a responsibility toward Mother Earth.
  • E85 fuel for flex-fuel vehicles launched to lower dependency on imported crude oil:On the occasion of World Environment Day, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today launched E85 fuel for flex-fuel vehicles in New Delhi.
    • E85 is a high-ethanol fuel blend consisting of 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. Recently rolled out in India, it offers significantly lower emissions and a cheaper pump price. However, it is highly corrosive and delivers less energy per unit, requiring specially designed vehicles to run properly.

  • Country’s GDP growth rate estimated at 7.7% in 2025-26:India’s economy has maintained strong momentum in 2025-26 with real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimated to grow by 7.7 per cent as compared to 7.1 per cent in 2024-25. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation today released the Provisional Estimates of Annual GDP for the Financial Year 2025-26 and quarterly estimates of January to March this year. The real GDP is estimated to attain a level of over 323 lakh crore rupees in 2025-26, against the first revised estimate of GDP for 2024-25 of over 299 lakh crore rupees.
  • RBI keeps repo rate unchanged at 5.25%, Reduces GDP growth projection to 6.6%-The Reserve Bank of India kept interest rates unchanged for the second time in a row in the current financial year. Announcing the second bi-monthly monetary policy for the current fiscal, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra today said that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has unanimously decided to retain the short-term lending rate or the repo rate, at 5.25% with a neutral stance.RBI has lowers GDP growth projection to 6.6% from 6.9% earlier for current fiscal. Governor also increased CPI inflation target to 5.1 percent from 4.6% for current financial year. RBI has also raised limit for investments by Non-Resident Indians, Overseas Citizens of India in equity instruments.

PM SVANidhi scheme

The PM SVANidhi (Prime Minister Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi) scheme is a central micro-credit initiative launched in June 2020 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to provide collateral-free working capital loans to street vendors. Originally introduced to help vendors recover from pandemic-induced financial disruptions, the scheme has been restructured and extended until March 31, 2030.

Restructured Loan and Tranche Framework 

The scheme operates on a graduated ladder structure, allowing street vendors to access higher credit amounts upon the timely repayment of earlier tranches:
  • 1st Tranche: Working capital loan up to ₹15,000 with a repayment tenure of 12 months.
  • 2nd Tranche: Enhanced loan up to ₹25,000 with a repayment tenure of 18 months.
  • 3rd Tranche: Term loan up to ₹50,000 with a repayment tenure of 36 months.

Eligibility Criteria

The scheme is applicable pan-India across all States and Union Territories that have notified rules under the Street Vendors Act of 2014. It covers urban local bodies (ULBs), census towns, and peri-urban areas: 
  • Urban Vendors: Must possess a valid Certificate of Vending (CoV), Identity Card, or Letter of Recommendation (LoR) from local Town Vending Committees.
  • Peri-Urban / Census Town Vendors: Eligible if they possess an LoR approved by their respective Block Development Officer (BDO). 
  • Basic Requirements: The applicant must be at least 18 years old. No minimum credit score or project proposals are required for approval.

  • Assam Assembly passes UCC Bill, becoming third state to adopt legislation-The Assam Legislative Assembly today adopted the Uniform Civil Code Bill, making Assam the first state in the North East and the third state in the country to adopt such legislation. The Bill, introduced during the first session of the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly on Monday, was passed by the House today on the concluding day of the session.After Uttarakhand and Gujarat, Assam became third state to pass the Uniform Civil Code Bill .
  • The Online Common Entrance Examination for enrolment into the Indian Army under the Agnipath Scheme and Regular Cadre for the recruitment year 2027 will be conducted from June first to June twelfth, 2026.The Agnipath Scheme is a short-term, contractual recruitment policy for the Indian Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force). Introduced in 2022, it allows patriotic and motivated youth to serve as "Agniveers" for a duration of 4 years, after which up to 25% are selected to join the regular cadre.
  • The theme of International Day of Yoga 2026 to be observed on 21st of next month will be "Yoga for Healthy Aging".
