  • NMDC Historic Achievement: The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) became the first Indian mining company to cross the 50 Million Tonnes (MT) iron ore production mark in a single financial year.
  • The Lok Sabha has passed the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025 with a voice vote today. The Bill, which was initially referred to a Select Committee, has been introduced to further amend the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016, to address procedural delays and interpretational issues among companies and individuals. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code was never intended to function merely as a debt recovery mechanism but as a framework to rescue viable businesses, resolve financial stress and preserve enterprise value.Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code has been a key factor in improving the health of the country’s banking sector, particularly in resolving stressed assets.
  • PM SVANidhi Scheme:A total of over one crore loans amounting to 17,115 crore rupees have been disbursed to street vendor beneficiaries under the PM SVANidhi scheme so far. The scheme was launched in June 2020 to provide collateral-free working capital term loans to urban street vendors. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu said this in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.

  • Cabinet approves modified UDAN scheme to develop 100 airports at cost of over 28,000 crore in next 10 years-Union Cabinet today approved the launch and implementation of the Regional Connectivity Scheme – Modified UDAN for a period of ten years from 2026-27 to 2035-36 with a total outlay of 28,840 crore rupees. Briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting in New Delhi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said 100 airports will be developed from existing unserved airstrips to enhance regional connectivity.
  • Steel Girders Portal: Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Ashwini Vaishnaw launched the Portal for Rail-Road Inspection and Stages Management (Steel Girders Portal) to enhance transparency in infrastructure projects.
