- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today launched the state-wide “My Village, Healthy Village” campaign on the occasion of World Health Day, aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in rural areas.
- PFBR Achieves Criticality: India’s Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) at Kalpakkam, Chennai, achieved "criticality" (a self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction). This marks the official operationalization of Stage 2 of India’s three-stage nuclear power program, paving the way for future thorium-based energy.
- AMCA Development Stage: The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India's fifth-generation stealth fighter, has officially entered its crucial 24-month "Detail Design Phase." This follows the Full-Scale Engineering Development (FSED) approval as the project moves toward a 2028 prototype.

- Artemis II Distance Record: NASA’s Artemis II mission, which is travelling around the far side of the moon, has set a new record for the farthest distance humans have traveled from Earth. The Orion spacecraft, carrying four astronauts, reached about 252,752 miles from Earth during a flyby of the Moon’s far side, surpassing the Apollo 13 record of 248,655 miles set in 1970. The milestone was achieved yesterday at 11:27 PM India Standard Time.
- Minister Dr S. Jaishankar and his counterpart of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil L. Douglas, today inaugurated the high commission of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New Delhi.Saint Kitts and Nevis is a dual-island sovereign nation in the West Indies' Leeward Islands, representing the smallest state in the Americas at 261 km sqr and roughly 48,000 inhabitants. The capital is Basseterre, located on Saint Kitts.
- India dispatches consignment of 250 Metric Tonnes of foodgrains to Seychelles:India has dispatched a consignment of 250 Metric Tonnes of foodgrains to Seychelles today. In a social media post, the External Affairs Ministry said that more consignments are to follow under the 175 million dollars Special Economic Package committed to Seychelles.The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. It's home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves, as well as rare animals such as giant Aldabra tortoises. Mahé, a hub for visiting the other islands, is home to capital Victoria.
- Vietnam's Communist Party's Secretary General To Lam, was unanimously elected by parliament as the country's president for a five-year term. The parliament said that all 495 deputies present today National Assembly session endorsed the Communist Party's nomination.
- The High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, Pranay Verma, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.
- Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to visit Washington DC for three days:VForeign Secretary Vikram Misri will be on a three-day visit to Washington D.C. in the United States, from tomorrow.
- Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to visit New Delhi:Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman is arriving in New Delhi today on a three-day visit aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries. During his visit, Khalilur Rahman will hold talks with External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.

- India continued their impressive campaign at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026, with a total of eight boxers, six women and two men, storming into the finals in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Minakshi and Jaismine led the charge in the women’s semifinals today, while Vishvanath Suresh and Sachin added to the tally with strong performances in the men’s category.

- World Health Day 2026: Celebrated globally on April 7.Theme: "Together for Health. Stand with Science." The 2026 observance marks the 78th anniversary of the World Health Organization (WHO) and emphasizes scientific collaboration through a "One Health" approach.
- The birth anniversary of the ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, was celebrated with much reverence and devotion at Gurudwara Guru Ke Mahal, the birthplace of the Guru in Amritsar.Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji (1621–1675) was the ninth Sikh Guru, revered as "Hind di Chadar" (Shield of India) for sacrificing his life to protect religious freedom, particularly for Kashmiri Pandits facing forced conversion by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Born in Amritsar, he was a spiritual leader who founded Anandpur Sahib and was martyred in Delhi, 1675.
