National

  • RBI Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) Outcomes: The Reserve Bank of India concluded its first three-day MPC meeting for FY 2026-27 today.
    • Repo Rate: The MPC unanimously decided to keep the Repo Rate unchanged at 5.25% for the eighth consecutive time. The central bank maintained its stance of 'withdrawal of accommodation' to ensure inflation progressively aligns with the target while supporting growth.
    • GDP Forecast: The RBI projected a GDP growth of 6.9% for the current fiscal year.
    • RBI has projected that CPI inflation for the current financial year will be at 4.6 percent
  • National Quantum Mission (NQM) Hubs: The Department of Science and Technology (DST) officially inaugurated four Thematic Hubs (T-Hubs) under the NQM at top IITs and IISc. These hubs will focus on Quantum Computing, Communication, Sensing, and Materials.
  • e-Sushrut Registration Expansion: The Union Health Ministry announced the nationwide expansion of the e-Sushrut (Hospital Management Information System). The platform now enables paperless registrations and digital health records across 1,200 government hospitals.
  • 17th edition of ELECRAMA 2027 launched in New Delhi-Chairperson of Central Electricity Authority, Ghanshyam Prasad, today formally launched the 17th edition of ELECRAMA 2027- the world's largest electrical show – in New Delhi. The event is being organised by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association.
  • PM Modi hails PMMY on completing 11 years; Says it has proven beneficial in promoting self employment among youth-Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana has proven to be highly beneficial in promoting self-employment among the youth. The scheme, which was launched in 2015, has completed 11 years today.
  • Amaravati declared sole capital of Andhra Pradesh The Government of India formally notified Amaravati as the exclusive capital of Andhra Pradesh after the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2026.

  • India welcomes ceasefire between US and Iran; Says it will lead to lasting peace in West Asia:India has welcomed the ceasefire reached between the United States and Iran. In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs expressed hope that it will lead to a lasting peace in West Asia and unimpeded freedom of navigation and global flow of commerce through the Strait of Hormuz.
  • Indian Army contingent to participate in 4th edition of India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise, Cyclone-IV in Egypt-An Indian Army contingent has departed for Egypt to participate in the fourth edition of the India-Egypt Joint Special Forces Exercise, Cyclone-IV. The Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the exercise will be held at Anshas, Egypt, from tomorrow till the 17th of this month.

  • UPI-CASH Withdrawal: Following the MPC meet, the RBI announced the launch of a new feature allowing cash deposits via UPI at ATMs, eliminating the need for physical debit cards for deposits.
  • India’s Foreign Exchange Reserves: India's forex reserves hit a new all-time high of $648.5 billion, as per the latest weekly data released by the RBI.
