National

• The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted a critical Integrated Main parachute Airdrop Test (IMAT) for the Gaganyaan Missions at the Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE) drop zone in Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh.The Gaganyaan mission is India's first human spaceflight program run by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It aims to send a crew of three astronauts into a 400-km orbit for three days and bring them back safely to Earth.
• DRDO conducts successful flight-test of Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket:Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today conducted a successful flight-test of Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) at the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur in Odisha. Defence Ministry said that the rocket was tested for a user-defined minimum range of 60 kilometres.
• The Pinaka is an indigenous multi-barrel rocket launcher (MBRL) system used by the Indian Army, named after the celestial bow of the Hindu deity Shiva. Designed to deliver rapid saturation fire against time-sensitive area targets, a single launcher can fire 12 high-explosive rockets in 44 seconds.
• PM-SETU scheme to modernise 1,000 ITIs:The government approved the nationwide rollout of PM-SETU, with an investment of ₹60,000 crore over five years.
• Funding:Central Government: ₹30,000 crore,State Governments: ₹20,000 crore,Industry: ₹10,000 crore
• The scheme aims to modernise 1,000 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and establish five National Centres of Excellence.
• Four states settle Narmada project financial disputes:Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra signed an agreement resolving long-standing financial issues relating to the Sardar Sarovar and Indira Sagar projects under the Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal framework.Narmada originates at Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, and flows westwards into the Arabian Sea.The agreement addresses cost-sharing, compensation and rehabilitation expenses.
• TribeX launched for tribal heritage:The Ministry of Tribal Affairs launched TribeX, described as India's first digital learning platform dedicated to tribal heritage.It focuses on:
• Tribal arts
• Culture
• Languages
• Traditional knowledge
• The platform initially offers 20 free certificate courses.
• UDISE+ 2025–26 report highlights improvement in school education:The Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2025–26 report highlighted declining dropout rates and improvements in teacher strength, infrastructure and digital access.
• Mission Drishti loses communication after solar-storm anomaly:Bengaluru-based space startup GalaxEye's Mission Drishti suffered a communication loss following an anomaly associated with a severe geomagnetic solar storm.Mission Drishti is notable for combining:
• Electro-optical imaging and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
• It is described as the world's first OptoSAR satellite. 

International

• Highlights of PM Modi’s State Visit to Indonesia (6–8 July 2026)
• Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today visited the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site Prambanan Temple Complex in Yogyakarta. India and Indonesia have taken a significant step towards preserving their shared civilisational heritage with the launch of a collaborative conservation initiative for the Prambanan Temple Compound, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Yogyakarta. .Built in the 9th century during the Mataram Kingdom, Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia and has been recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991.
• Civilian Honour: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian award, the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia.
• IIM Bangalore will set up its first overseas campus at the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Java, Indonesia.

• The BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting commenced in Kochi today under India's BRICS Chairship 2026, bringing together Ministers and Heads of Delegation from BRICS Member Countries to strengthen cooperation, advance women's empowerment and reaffirm shared commitment to inclusive, resilient and sustainable development.

Sports and culture

• The 8th Khelo India Youth Games 2026 will be hosted by Telangana. Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya made the announcement today. He said the Games will provide another platform for country's youth to showcase their sporting talent.
