• Prasar Bharati’s WAVES OTT crosses one crore users within two years of launch-Prasar Bharati’s digital streaming platform WAVES OTT has crossed one crore registered users in less than two years after its launch in November 2024. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that the achievement marks a significant step in the growth of the country’s public digital media ecosystem.
• India successfully flight-tests indigenous RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile-The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have successfully conducted flight tests of the indigenously developed RudraM-II Air-to-Surface Missile from an airborne platform.
• The inaugural World Yogasana Championship is scheduled to take place from June 4 to June 8, 2026, at the Eka Arena in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. This historic event aims to bring yogasana to the global sporting stage and push for its future inclusion in the Olympics.
• Married Daughter Cannot Be Excluded From Compassionate Appointment : SC-The Supreme Court today held that married daughters cannot be excluded from compassionate appointment. The apex court said the omission of married daughters from the definition of family is manifestly arbitrary, unjustified and constitutionally untenable

Economy and banking

• Govt to replace WPI with PPI system to align country’s data woth global best practices-The government has decided to gradually phase out the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) and replace it with a comprehensive Producer Price Index (PPI) system. The decision was taken to modernise country’s inflation and pricing data framework and align it with global best practices.
• The Commerce and Industry Ministry said that the government has approved the revision of the base year of the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) from 2011-12 to 2022-23. Considering the wide usage of WPI in price escalation clauses, this index will be released for five years from the date of release of the revised series along with PPI and will be discontinued thereafter.The revised Wholesale Price Index and New Producer Price Indices is scheduled to be released on 15th Jun.

• Lokhande Prashant Sitaram appointed as CBSE Chairperson:Senior IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Central Board of Secondary Education. Mr Sitaram was serving as an additional secretary in the Home Ministry.

• Telangana Statehood Day (or Formation Day) is celebrated annually on June 2nd. It marks the official creation of the state of Telangana, which was carved out of Andhra Pradesh on this date in 2014, becoming India's 29th state.
