  • IndiaAI signs MoU with Karya to strengthen India’s inclusive AI ecosystem-The IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has signed an agreement with Karya, a nonprofit organisation that works to increase accessibility of the AI economy. Ministry of Electronics and Information said that they will work on strengthening India’s inclusive artificial intelligence ecosystem through collaboration in data, technology, and capacity building.
  • Assam govt to introduce UCC Bill in assembly during special session; cabinet approves the draft:The Assam Government will introduce the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in the State Legislative Assembly on 26th of this month. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement while addressing the media after chairing the first Cabinet meeting of the new term.
  • In Tamil Nadu, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government led by C. Joseph Vijay won the floor test in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, with 144 MLAs voting in favour, demonstrating a clear majority in the House.
  • India to Host Two-Day BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting From Tomorrow:India will be hosting a two-day BRICS foreign ministers' meeting from tomorrow. The meeting will be chaired by External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar. BRICS Foreign Ministers and Heads of Delegation from Member and Partner Countries will participate in the meeting.
  • All India NR Congress leader N. Rangasamy was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Puducherry today for a record fifth term. At a ceremony held at the Lok Nivas, Puducherry, Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan administered the oath of office and secrecy.

  • US President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing today for a high-stakes summit with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
  • President Yoweri Museveni Sworn In for Historic Seventh Term in Uganda:Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has been sworn in for a historic seventh term, extending his 40-year tenure following a landslide victory in January elections.

Economy and banking

  • Government Raises Import Duty on Gold and Precious Metals From Today-The effective import duty on gold in India is 15%, following a sharp hike in duty.This regulation combines a 10% Basic Customs Duty (BCD) and a 5% Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC).The new tariff structure replaces the previous lower rate of 6% to stabilize macroeconomic parameters amid global volatility:

Sports and culture

  • In Weightlifting, India’s Gyaneshwari Yadav bagged two medals, a silver and a bronze at the Asian Senior Championships in Gandhinagar today. Gyaneshwari won a silver in the snatch section in the 53kg category and then an overall bronze medal in the event with a combined lift of 194kg.The gold medal in the category was claimed by Jinlan Zhao of China with a total lift of 216kg, while the silver went to Vietnam’s Hoai Huong Nguyen with a total of 195kg.Komal Kohar had opened India’s medal count, winning a bronze in the women’s 48kg on Monday.
  • In Thailand Open Badminton, star shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth progressed to the pre-quarterfinals of Singles events in Bangkok. In Women's Singles, a two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu defeated Tung Ciou-Tong of Chinese Taipei 21-9 21-12.
