  • WB Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari chairs cabinet meeting at state secretariat Nabanna:The new state government started its work today. The Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, today chaired the cabinet meeting and held administrative and law and order meetings at the state secretariat, Nabanna.
  • Centre notifies implementation of Viksit Bharat – G RAM G Act from 1st of July-Centre has notified the implementation of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G). The Act will be rolled out nationwide from 1st July this year. The Rural Development Ministry said that the Act, which guarantees 125 days of wage employment in every financial year, will empower rural India. Our correspondent reports that a provision of ₹95,692 crore has been made in the current financial year for operationalisation of the new framework across the country.
    • The Viksit Bharat–G RAM G Act replaces the 20-year-old Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005. The new Act aims to enhance the statutory employment guarantee from 100 days to 125 days in a financial year
  • Himanta Biswa Sarma to take oath as Assam CM tomorrow-In Assam, the stage is set for the swearing-in of Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term tomorrow.The swearing-in will mark the beginning of the NDA’s third consecutive term in Assam and Dr. Sarma’s second consecutive term as Chief Minister.
  • Puducherry: Preparation underway for swearing-in of N. Rangasamy as CM:Arrangements are underway for the swearing-in ceremony of NDA leader N. Rangasamy as the Chief Minister of Puducherry. Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan will administer the oath of office at a function to be held at Lok Nivas on Wednesday.
  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurates MLFF barrier-less toll system in Delhi-Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari today said that India has entered a new era of technology-driven highway management, with the launch of the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-less toll collection system. Inaugurating the advanced tolling system at Mundka Bakkarwala toll plaza in New Delhi, Mr Gadkari said this initiative will eliminate long waiting times at toll plazas and significantly reduce fuel wastage, pollution and travel delays. Mr Gadkari said the MLFF system uses FASTag, Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology and AI-based cameras to enable seamless toll collection without stopping vehicles. He said motorists will be able to pass through toll corridors at speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour, and the toll payments will be deducted automatically.
  • Tamil Nadu Assembly: Over 100 MLAs sworn in, CM Joseph Vijay takes oath-In the 17th Assembly session of Tamil Nadu today, more than 100 members were sworn in after Pro-tem Speaker Karuppaiah invited the members. Chief Minister Joseph Vijay and cabinet members, Opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin, and former Chief Ministers Edappadi K. Palaniswami and O. Panneerselvam took the oath today.

  • India ranks 3rd globally in installed renewable energy capacity-India now ranks third globally in installed renewable energy capacity. A new report by Morgan Stanley says.According to data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, domestic solar module capacity has nearly doubled, from 38 gigawatts in March 2024 to 74 gigawatts in March 2025. Solar cell capacity has also increased from 9 gigawatts to 25 gigawatts.
  • Two Indians on Hantavirus-hit Cruise Ship are safe: Embassy-The Indian Embassy in Madrid, Spain, has said that two Indian nationals aboard a hantavirus-hit cruise ship are safe and asymptomatic. The Dutch-flagged vessel MV Hondius, carrying around 150 people, including two Indians, arrived in Spain yesterday and anchored off the Canary Islands following the outbreak.

  • India’s economy is projected to grow at 6.6% in Financial Year 2026-27: SBI Research Report-An SBI Research Report for May 2026 has said that India's economy is projected to grow at 6.6% in the Financial Year 2026-27, as against the GDP growth for the Financial Year 2025-26, which is likely to be at 7.5%.
  • RBI and ECB sign MoU The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the European Central Bank (ECB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of central banking. The agreement was signed by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra and ECB President Christine Lagarde on the sidelines of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) meetings in Basel to boost central banking cooperation.
