- Govt implements digital-only Toll Collection at National Highway Fee Plazas-The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that all user fee payments at National Highway fee plazas across the country are being processed exclusively through digital modes of FASTag or Unified Payments Interface (UPI) from 10th of this month.
- National Commemorative Programme on Mahatma Jyotiba Phule’s 200th Birth Anniversary held in New Delhi.
- Jharkhand CM Soren pays floral tribute to freedom fighters Sidho-Kanho on their birth anniversary:On the occasion of the birth anniversary of freedom fighters Sidho-Kanho, the great leaders of the Hul rebellion in Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren paid floral tribute at their statue at Sidho-Kanho Park in Morabadi, Ranchi.
- Indian-born Female Cheetah gives birth to 4 Cubs at Kuno National Park:An Indian-born female cheetah has given birth to four cubs in the wild at Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh. Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, has described the development as a historic milestone in the country’s cheetah conservation journey.
- Telangana has been declared Naxal-free following the surrender of 42 cadres. Telangana DGP B Shivadhar Reddy announced that the state is now free of armed Maoist presence after 42 cadres of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), including PLGA commander Sodi Malla, surrendered.
- The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully conducted the second integrated air drop test (IADT-02) for the upcoming Gaganyaan mission at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. The system is essential to ensure safe recovery of the crew module — the capsule in which astronauts sit during a human flight. After the module’s release, a parachute system, comprising 10 parachutes, was deployed, helping the capsule decelerate to a safe splashdown speed.
International
- Iraqi parliament elects Nizar Amedi as country’s new president:The Iraqi parliament today elected Kurdish politician Nizar Amedi as the country's new president, following parliamentary elections held in November last year. Amedi is a former environment minister and has headed the political office of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) in Baghdad since 2024.
- Britain’s plan to transfer Chagos Islands to Mauritius on hold after US withdraws support-In a statement, the British government stressed that Diego Garcia remains a vital strategic asset and said safeguarding its long-term security is the primary objective of the deal. It added that the agreement would only proceed with US support and that discussions with both the US and Mauritius are ongoing.
- Crew members of NASA’s Artemis II moon mission returned to Earth:The four crew members of NASA's Artemis II moon mission returned to Earth early this morning, with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.
- Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh was reelected for a sixth term after official results showed him winning 97.81 per cent of the vote in yesterday's election. Guelleh has ruled the small Horn of Africa nation of about 1 million for more than two decades.

- India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has completed 10 years of its operations today. Over the decade, UPI has transformed from a pilot program into the backbone of Indian payments, transitioning the nation from a cash-led economy to a real-time digital payment system.
- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has raised India’s growth forecast for current financial year to 6.9 percent from 6.5 percent

- World Parkinson’s Day is being observed today across the globe to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease, a kind of neurodegenerative disorder. The theme for this year is 'Bridge the Care Gap'.

- Jyotiba Phule was a pioneering 19th-century social reformer, anti-caste activist, and writer from Maharashtra. He is most famous for championing women's education, eradicating untouchability, and challenging the rigid caste system alongside his wife, Savitribai Phule.
- The Chagos Islands are a remote archipelago in the central Indian Ocean currently undergoing a massive political transition. Following decades of international dispute, the UK and Mauritius reached a historic agreement in 2024 to transfer sovereignty of the islands to Mauritius, while the US and UK will retain control over the vital military base on Diego Garcia.
- The Gaganyaan mission is India's flagship human spaceflight program designed to send a three-member crew to a 400 km Low Earth Orbit (LEO) for a three-day mission, followed by a safe splashdown in Indian waters. With this milestone, India aims to become the fourth nation to launch an indigenous crewed space mission.
