  • Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah resigns; Says, will continue in active politics in state. Now D K Sivakumar will take over CM post.
  • Centre releases over 10,000 crore rupees to 12 states under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin:Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today released over ten thousand crore rupees to twelve states under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) through video conferencing. These States include Assam, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.three crore and 91 lakh houses have already been accorded approval under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), against the target of 4.95 crore houses.
  • INS Sudarshini arrives at Antigua after historic trans-Atlantic passage under Lokayan 26 expedition-The Lokayan 26 Expedition is a landmark 10-month, 22,000-nautical-mile transoceanic voyage by the Indian Navy's sail training ship, INS Sudarshini. Flagged off from Kochi, India, on January 20, 2026, the mission spans 18 ports in 13 countries to promote maritime diplomacy, cultural outreach, and advanced sail training.
  • Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit in Telangana will manufacture 200 intercity trains in the next five years. These trains will be deployed throughout the country for short-distance travel.
  • Sikkim achieves Fully Literate State status under ULLAS initiative-In a moment of pride and historic significance, Sikkim was officially declared a Fully Literate State under the ULLAS (Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society) initiative during the convocation ceremony of Sikkim University held in Gangtok yesterday. The ULLAS initiative, launched by the Ministry of Education in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to promote adult education, functional literacy and lifelong learning for individuals aged 15 years and above while fostering continuous learning and skill development

International

  • The President of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, will be on a five-day visit to India from Saturday. He is visiting India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The President will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising several Cabinet Ministers, senior officials and business leaders. This will be the first visit of President Min Aung Hlaing to India in his current capacity.
  • India has sent emergency pharmaceutical supplies to support efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak in Congo, Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said.
  • Sacred relics from Sanchi Stupa to be sent to Mongolia on PM Modi’s initiative-These relics belong to two of Lord Buddha’s most prominent disciples, Sariputra and Maudgalyayana.Today, they will be flown to Delhi from Bhopal’s Raja Bhoj Airport with full state honours.Tomorrow, the relics will be placed on public display at the National Museum in New Delhi. After that, on May 30, a special Indian Air Force aircraft will carry them to Mongolia.

The final match will be played on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru stormed into the final beating Gujarat Titans  in the Qualifier one match .
  • R Praggnanandhaa defeats Magnus Carlsen in round three of Norway Chess:In Norway Chess, R Praggnanandhaa defeated the Norwegian world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen, gripping the contest to claim three full points in round three of the tournament yesterday.
