  • Ladakh to Get Autonomous Hill Development Councils in All Seven Districts.The Ladakh Administration decided to constitute Autonomous Hill Development Councils (AHDCs) in all seven districts of the Union Territory.The development follows an in-principle understanding between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ladakh representatives regarding constitutional safeguards for the region.Ladakh became a Union Territory in 2019 without a Legislative Assembly.Seven Districts of Ladakh:

  • Semicon 2.0:The Union Cabinet has approved the Semicon 2.0 programme with a budgetary outlay of 1 lakh 27 thousand 500 crore rupees for the development of India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem.Semicon 2.0 seeks to holistically build the semiconductor ecosystem through six pillars- Design, Machines and materials, Setting up more fabs, Further strengthening the ATMP-OSAT industry and Research and Development.The focus was on starting and establishing the industry and Under Semicon 2.0, the chips required for all our strategic needs will be designed in India, and by the end of this semiconductor programme, the country will become self-reliant in chip design.
  • India’s first hydrogen train to be flagged off between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana:Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off India’s first hydrogen train between Jind and Sonipat at Jind railway station in Haryana on Friday during his visit to Haryana.
  • Madhya Pradesh's first international flight service will begin from Indore today. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will flag off the first direct flight from Indore to Abu Dhabi. The service is being launched under the state's Civil Aviation Policy 2025.
  • Delhi to receive 2,800 new electric buses under PM E-Drive Scheme:Delhi’s public transport system is set for a major boost, with the national capital to receive 2 thousand 800 new air-conditioned low-floor electric buses.The PM E-DRIVE scheme (PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement) is a ₹10,900 crore Indian government initiative led by the Ministry of Heavy Industries to accelerate electric vehicle adoption, boost domestic manufacturing, and build public charging networks through March 2026 (with select extensions up to 2028).
  • The holy city of Puri is all set for tomorrow's world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.

International

  • International Centre for Civilizational Studies Launched in Bishkek:An International Centre for Civilizational Studies was launched in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.The initiative involves the Manas National Academy of Kyrgyzstan and India's Centre for Studies of International Relations (CSIR).The centre aims to promote comparative research into the Kyrgyz epic Manas and India's Mahabharata, along with broader civilisational studies.
  • The India–United Kingdom Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) officially entered into force on 15 July 2026, marking a major milestone in India-UK economic relations.The agreement provides zero-duty access for nearly 99% of India's exports to the UK and covers goods, services, digital trade, government procurement, labour, environment, innovation and regulatory cooperation.On the first day, more than 50 export consignments worth over US$140 million were flagged off from more than 20 ports, airports, ICDs, SEZs and factories under the preferential tariff regime.Important Points:

  • NCVET and Australia's ASQA Sign Letter of Intent:The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and Australia's Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen cooperation in vocational education and training.The agreement follows outcomes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Australia.

  • The World Youth Skills Day is being observed today. It is celebrated every year on 15th July after the United Nations General Assembly's (UNGA) declaration in 2014.
  • The birth anniversary of K. Kamaraj is celebrated on July 15. Kumaraswami Kamaraj (15 July 1903 – 2 October 1975), popularly known as Kamarajar, was an Indian independence activist, politician, social reformer, and statesman who served as the Chief Minister of Madras from 13 April 1954 to 2 October 1963. He also served as the president of the Indian National Congress from 1964 to 1967 and was responsible for the elevation of Lal Bahadur Shastri and later Indira Gandhi to the position of Prime Minister of India, because of which he was widely acknowledged as the "Kingmaker" in Indian politics during the 1960s.
