- Sikkim launches ecological drive to revive Himalayan oak forests:The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr Prem Singh Tamang launched “Mission: Million Oak Trees by 2047”, a State-wide ecological restoration programme aimed at reviving Himalayan oak forests to strengthen water security, biodiversity and climate resilience today.
- “Pragati” aims to empower agricultural entrepreneurs & farmers: Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan : Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today launched the Pragati project aimed at empowering over twenty thousand agricultural entrepreneurs and 20 lakh farmers. The Agriculture Minister said that the government has decided to train 26,000 small agricultural entrepreneurs under the Pragati program. He said that these entrepreneurs work within a village and collaborate with 100-200 farmers to transform the village’s agriculture.
- Mizoram’s Natural History Museum has been notified as India’s 21st Designated Repository under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change notified the institution as a Designated Repository on the recommendation of the National Biodiversity Authority. Designated Repositories are an important component of India’s biodiversity governance framework, preserving authenticated biological specimens for scientific research and conservation.The museum will maintain voucher specimens of selected flora, including pteridophytes and macrofungi, and fauna such as reptiles, amphibians, fishes, moths, beetles and butterflies.

- IIM-B first to establish its overseas campus in Indonesia:Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that a new chapter has been added to India's education sector with the approval for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore to establish an overseas campus in Indonesia.
- PM Modi holds talks with Indonesian President; conferred with country’s highest honour, key MoUs exchangedd-Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Indonesia’s highest civilian honour, the Bintang Adipurna of the Republic of Indonesia, by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto during a ceremonial event at Istana Merdeka, the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.The honour recognises Prime Minister Modi’s contribution to strengthening the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and deepening the historic friendship between the two countries.

- ECLGS 5.0 Crosses 4.11 Lakh Guarantees with guaranteed amount reaching over ₹1.55 Lakh Crore: Govt:The Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0, launched in May this year, has crossed more than four lakh guarantees, with the guaranteed amount reaching over one lakh fifty five thousand crore rupees.The Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 is a government-backed credit initiative approved on May 5, 2026. Managed by the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC), it provides short-term liquidity support up to ₹100 crore for MSMEs and non-MSMEs, and up to ₹1,500 crore for airlines, to help businesses manage disruptions from the West Asia crisis

- In the Wimbledon Tennis, World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner has stormed into Men's Singles semifinal beating Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany. Sinner defeated Struff in straight sets 7-5, 7-6, 6-3 in the quarter-final match this evening.Jannik Sinner is from Italy.
- President Droupadi Murmu unveiled and flagged off the trophies for the Durand Cup 2026 in New Delhi. Addressing the gathering, the President said that new teams will compete this year for the Durand Cup, the President's Cup and the Shimla Trophy.The Durand Cup is Asia's oldest football tournament, established in 1888.

Srinivasan, was a scheduled caste activist and politician from then Madras Presidency of British India. He is a Paraiyar icon and was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi and was also an associate of B. R. Ambedkar.
