- Digital India BHASHINI Division has signed an agreement with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, DPIIT to strengthen multilingual digital capabilities across India's industry and internal trade ecosystem through the BHASHINI Platform.
- BHASHINI (BHASHa INterface for India) is a revolutionary AI-powered national public platform created by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). Its core goal is to break linguistic barriers and bridge the digital divide by enabling citizens to access digital services, governance, and technology in their own native languages.
- In Uttarakhand, the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Valley of Flowers, located in the Chamoli district has been opened to tourists from today. The Forest Department has appealed to visitors to cooperate in the conservation of the valley’s rich biodiversity and rare plant species.According to the department, the Valley of Flowers is currently home to more than 300 species of flowers and several rare varieties of flora. Forest Range Officer Chetna Kandpal said that the valley will remain open to visitors until October 31.
- Only Family Courts can dissolve marriages, says Allahabad HC-The Allahabad High Court has ruled that Lok Adalats and District Legal Services Authorities have no jurisdiction to grant divorce decrees, saying the power to dissolve a marriage rests exclusively with Family Courts. The Lucknow Bench of the High Court made the observation while hearing a petition filed by a woman challenging a 2018 order of the District Legal Services Authority in Unnao.
- Khet Bachao Abhiyan begins with aim to restrict use of chemical fertilisers:Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today launched the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign at Ramsia village in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. The campaign will be operational for one month. It is aimed at protecting farmland and encourage scientific farming among farmers.
- PM SVANidhi scheme completes six years of implementation:PM SVANidhi scheme has completed six years today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the scheme, saying PM SVANidhi has transformed the lives of countless street vendors by ensuring access to collateral-free credit, financial inclusion and new opportunities for growth.
- President appoints five judges to Supreme Court after CJI consultation:Five new judges have been appointed to the Supreme Court, taking the apex court's working strength to 37 including the Chief Justice of India.
- Renowned singer Suman Kalyanpur passed away at her residence in Mumbai yesterday. She was 89. The veteran singer was known for her work in Hindi, Marathi and several other Indian languages during the golden era of film music from the 1950s to the 1970s
Economy and banking
- GST collections rise 3.2% to over ₹1.94 lakh crore in May:Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 3.2 per cent to over one lakh 94 thousand crore rupees last month on improved supplies of goods and services and continued expansion of collection from imports. The gross GST collection in May last year was one lakh 88 thousand crore rupees.
- The accounts of the Government of India for the Financial Year 2025-26 (Provisional/Unaudited) have been consolidated and reports published. The highlights are given below: -
- Income:The Government of India has received ₹33,85,982 crore (99.4% of corresponding RE 2025-26 of Total Receipts) during 2025-26 comprising ₹26,23,264 crore of Tax Revenue (Net to Centre), ₹6,78,961 crore of Non-Tax Revenue and ₹83,757 crore of Non-Debt Capital Receipts. Non-Debt Capital Receipts consists of Recovery of Loans (₹24,617 crore) and Miscellaneous Capital Receipts (₹59,140 crore). ₹13,92,971 crore has been transferred to State Governments as Devolution of Share of Taxes by Government of India upto this period which is ₹1,06,086 crore higher than the previous year.
- Expenditure:Total Expenditure incurred by Government of India is ₹49,05,151 crore (98.8% of corresponding RE 2025-26), out of which ₹38,36,032 crore is on Revenue Account and ₹10,69,119 crore is on Capital Account. Out of the Total Revenue Expenditure, ₹12,42,575 crore is on account of Interest Payments and ₹4,53,854 crore is on account of Major Subsidies.

- In football, India has stormed into the semi-finals of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026. The Indian team defeated defending champions Bangladesh 3-0 at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa, yesterday to top Group B of the Championship.
- Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Gujarat Titans by five wickets to retain IPL title-In cricket, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully retained the IPL title, defeating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last night.
