- Approval given to University of Liverpool, UK, to establish campus in Bengaluru-In a significant step toward internationalisation of higher education under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Ministry of Education today handed over the Letter of Approval (LoA) to the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, to establish its branch campus in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The letter was handed over in the presence of the External Affairs Minister and the UK Foreign Secretary.
- The inaugural edition of the World Yogasana Sports Championship is being held at the Eka Arena in Ahmedabad(June 4 – 8, 2026).This historic edition is supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Ministry of Ayush, and the Sports Authority of India. This landmark event marks a major milestone in advancing Yogasana toward becoming a globally competitive sport with Olympic ambitions.The EKA Arena in Ahmedabad has opened its doors to over 400 participants from more than 60 nations, including international contingents from the USA, Ghana, Kenya, and Malaysia.
- National e-Vidhan Application:The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the West Bengal Legislative Assembly today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) in West Bengal Assembly at Parliament in New Delhi.
- The National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) is a flagship digital initiative under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs aimed at digitizing and modernizing the functioning of all 37 State and UT legislatures in India. Operating on a "One Nation - One Application" framework, it transforms state legislative houses into completely paperless environments.
- India’s first flex-fuel passenger vehicle marks new chapter in country’s energy transition:Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Union Minister for Road, Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today launched India’s first flex-fuel passenger vehicle by Maruti Suzuki in New Delhi. Flex-fuel vehicles can operate on a range of ethanol-petrol blends, from E20 up to E100.

- NASA declares Mars orbiter Maven mission over after six months of silence-NASA’s Maven spacecraft around Mars has been declared dead. After six months of radio silence. The space agency confirmed that the mission had ended after more than a decade of observations. Launched in 2013 to study the red planet’s atmosphere from orbit, Maven mysteriously fell silent in early December after passing behind Mars.
- UN Security Council-Five countries, including Austria, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, and Zimbabwe, have been elected non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for a two-year term. They will assume their seats on January 1, 2027, and serve until December 31, 2028. The newly elected members will replace the outgoing non-permanent members – Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Panama and Somalia.
- The permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (often called the "P5") are China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
- These five nations are the only members with the power to veto any substantive resolution, meaning that a single negative vote from any of them can block a Council decision. Along with 10 non-permanent members elected for two-year terms, the P5 share primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security.
- World Health Organization has warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo remains ahead of efforts to contain it. Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the virus had gained a big head-start and that health authorities were still catching up.

- India has retained its strong presence in the latest World Boxing Rankings. Jaismine Lamboria climbed to World No. 1 in the women's 57kg category while Asian champions Priya Ghanghas in 60kg and Vishvanath Suresh in 50kg surged into the top three of their respective categories.
- In football, hosts India have booked their place in the final of the SAFF Women’s Championship after defeating Bhutan 1-0 in the semifinal at Margao, Goa, yesterday.The five-time champions, India, will now face defending champions Bangladesh in the title clash on Saturday.
