National

  • Ministry of Food Processing Industries says over 1.96 lakh micro enterprises supported under PMFME Scheme-PMFME stands for the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme. Launched by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, this centrally sponsored initiative aims to provide financial, technical, and business support to upgrade and formalise unorganised micro food processing units across India.
  • Short Range Ballistic Missile ‘Agni-1’ was successfully test-launched from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, Odisha today. Ministry of Defence said that the launch validated all operational and technical parameters. The test was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
  • Khet Bachao Abhiyan-Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has said that Khet Bachao Abhiyan, focusing on soil health, balanced fertiliser use, and sustainable agriculture, has reached 2 crore 71 lakh Citizens. The Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign has established a robust outreach across the country through multiple platforms to educate farmers and stakeholders on scientific nutrient management.This aims to encourage soil test-based nutrient management and reduce overdependence on chemical fertilisers, thereby protecting soil fertility and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability.
  • PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana-Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi said that India is now adding an additional one lakh households in just eight days under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
  • The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has achieved a major milestone with over 100 crore health records successfully linked with Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA).
  • Department of Posts and Flipkart India Private Limited today signed an agreement to strengthen India’s e-commerce logistics ecosystem and enhance last mile delivery capabilities across the country.Ministry of Communications said that the partnership aims to leverage the unparalleled reach and trusted delivery network of the Department of Posts along with Flipkart’s strong presence in India’s e-commerce sector to provide efficient, reliable and customer-centric parcel delivery solutions across the country.
  • Indian Army launches ‘Q-FORCE’ application for logistics and sustainment management-The Q-FORCE application is an integrated digital platform launched by the Indian Army designed to modernize and streamline its logistics, supply chain, and transport operations.
    • Operations: It connects multiple legacy logistics and inventory platforms into a single, centralized system.
    • Efficiency: Designed for faster workflows, it improves inventory tracking, transport planning, and sustainment support across difficult terrain such as high mountains, deserts, and borders.
    • Digital Transformation: The tool reflects the armed forces' broader shift towards automation and digital self-reliance.
  • A mobile application JEEVAN (Joint Elderly Empowerment and Virtual Assistance Network) has been launched today to strengthen support systems for senior citizens across the country. Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar launched this application in New Delhi.
    • The mobile application JEEVAN provides a range of features aimed at addressing the needs and concerns of senior citizens, including information on Government schemes and welfare programmes, emergency assistance and details of senior citizen homes. The platform has been designed with a user-friendly interface, simplified navigation and accessibility features, keeping in view the requirements of elderly users.
    • The Minister also launched Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training for Your Utility (SHATAYU) Dashboard to support and strengthen caregiving services for senior citizens.International
  • International Big Cat Alliance welcomes Saudi Arabia as newest Member Country-The International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) has welcomed Saudi Arabia as its newest Member Country. In a social media post, IBCA said Saudi Arabia’s joining is a significant collective step towards advancing global cooperation for Big Cat conservation and a sustainable planet.
  • India has delivered twenty tonnes of critical dry materials for BCG, and Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccines to Kabul to augment Afghanistan’s Child Immunisation Programme.
  • EAM Dr S Jaishankar meets SCO Secretary General:Nurlan Yermekbayev in New Delhi-External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today met Secretary General of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Nurlan Yermekbayev in New Delhi. They discussed Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s initiatives and activities as well as global and regional issues.Nurlan Baiuzakuly Yermekbayev is a Kazakh politician, diplomat and Lieutenant General in the Ground Forces who had been the Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan.
  • The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI), Norway for Advanced Consultancy Support in Tunnel Engineering, Slope Stability and Capacity Building.
  • The Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting will be held in New Delhi on 26th May. At the invitation of External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar, Foreign Minister of Australia Penny Wong, Foreign Minister of Japan Toshimitsu Motegi and Secretary of State of the United States Marco Rubio are arriving in New Delhi to participate in the meeting.
  • The Israeli government has released and deported hundreds of flotilla activists who attempted to breach Israel's naval blockade of Gaza.-The flotilla to Gaza consists of hundreds of international human rights activists, medics, journalists, and politicians, including high-profile figures such as climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and French MEP Rima Hassan. Organized by coalitions like the Freedom Flotilla, participants represent dozens of countries across six continents, including Australia, Brazil, Ireland, and Italy.
  • India’s Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission has been honoured with the 2026 Goddard Astronautics Award by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). India’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Vinay Kwatra, accepted the award on behalf of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) at the AIAA ASCEND 2026 Conference.
  • The first International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) Summit, which was scheduled to take place in New Delhi on June 1, has been postponed to a later date. The Summit focusses on the conservation of seven Big Cat species which are Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, Jaguar, and Puma and their ecosystems.

  • Birth Anniversary of Raja Rammohan Roy-Raja Rammohan Roy, widely regarded as the "Father of the Indian Renaissance," was born on May 22, 1772. Celebrated annually to honor his monumental contributions, his birth anniversary commemorates his role as a visionary scholar and pioneering social reformer.
    • He is globally renowned for his relentless campaigns to eradicate social evils, most notably playing a pivotal role in the abolition of the practice of Sati
    • He strongly advocated for women’s property rights and pushed for the education and empowerment of women. 
    • He co-founded the Brahmo Sabha in 1828, which laid the groundwork for the Brahmo Samaj—a movement that fought against blind faith and caste inequalities.
  • The International Day for Biological Diversity is observed annually on May 22 to raise awareness of critical biodiversity issues. The 2026 theme is "Acting locally for global impact", focusing on aligning grassroots actions with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF).

  • The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a flagship initiative by the Government of India aimed at providing up to 300 units of free electricity per month to 1 crore households across the country. With a total budget layout of over ₹75,000 crores, the scheme encourages the installation of rooftop solar panels to eliminate electricity expenses for poor and middle-class families.The central government provides direct financial assistance (CFA) covering 40% to 60% of the total solar system installation cost. This subsidy is credited directly into the applicant's bank account:

  • The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is an initiative by the Indian Government, implemented by the National Health Authority, to build a digitally empowered, interoperable healthcare ecosystem. It has surpassed 90 crore (900 million) Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHAs), allowing citizens to securely link and share their medical records.Citizens can easily create their unique ABHA number and manage their health records through the NHA Official ABDM Portal or via designated Personal Health Record (PHR) applications.
  • The Quad (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) is an informal strategic forum comprising the United States, India, Japan, and Australia. It focuses on maritime security, economic cooperation, and technology sharing in the Indo-Pacific region. While initially formed to coordinate responses to the 2004 tsunami, it has evolved to counter growing Chinese geopolitical and economic influence.
