- IITM Pune Inaugurates X-Band Doppler Weather Radar at Mahabaleshwar under Mission Mausam-In Maharashtra, the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune, recently commissioned a new X-band Doppler Weather Radar at Mahabaleshwar under Mission Mausam. The radar was inaugurated by M. Ravichandran in the presence of senior scientists and officials from IITM and ISRO on 24th of this month.
- Vibrant Village Programme-II :In Jammu and Kashmir, six strategically located border villages in Kathua district have been brought under the Centre’s Vibrant Village Programme-II to strengthen development infrastructure and ensure full saturation of welfare schemes.
- The 2026 Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) highlights that 266 million people across 47 countries faced high levels of acute food insecurity in 2025, revealing that global hunger has effectively doubled over the past decade. Released by an alliance of UN agencies, the European Union, and partners under the Global Network Against Food Crises, the report warns that acute hunger has transitioned from temporary emergencies into a persistent, structural global challenge.Pakistan has been ranked among the world’s top 10 countries facing acute hunger. The 2026 Global Report on Food Crises places it alongside countries such as Afghanistan, Nigeria and Yemen as major centres of food insecurity. Around 11 million people in Pakistan faced severe food insecurity in 2025.
- Ethanol Blending in Aviation: The Government of India authorized the blending of ethanol and synthetic hydrocarbons into Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to establish Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) targets: 1% by 2027, 2% by 2028, and 5% by 2030 for international flights.
International
- Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi could revisit Islamabad after his current stop in Oman and before heading to Russia, according to Iranian media.
- UNESCO Chair on Gender Inclusion: Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary launched India’s (and Asia's) first UNESCO Chair on Gender Inclusion and Skill Development at the Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU). It focuses on bringing more women into high-tech sectors like robotics, semiconductor technology, and defense.

- AI Risk Assessment Panel: The Government formed a high-level committee chaired by State Bank of India (SBI) Chairman C.S. Setty to evaluate the potential security and systemic risks arising from advanced AI platforms (specifically Anthropic's Mythos) within the banking ecosystem.

Founded in 1988, NASSCOM operates as a nonprofit organization and serves as a key entity within the Indian technology sector.
- Mission Mausam is a flagship initiative approved by the Union Cabinet of India to transform the country into a "weather-ready and climate-smart" nation. Launched under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), it is a two-year project backed by a budget of ₹2,000 crore. The objective is to drastically improve weather forecasting accuracy, particularly for convective, localized, and extreme weather events.
