- In Telangana, Kalvakuntla Kavitha has launched a new political party named ‘Telangana Rashtra Sena’ (TRS). Addressing the gathering at Munirabad in the Medchal district, she declared that the party aims to achieve the Social Telangana that was envisioned during the statehood movement but never realized.She is the daughter of former chief minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
- DRDO Unveils Advanced Armoured Platforms: Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence (R&D) and Chairman of DRDO, officially unveiled new Advanced Armoured Platforms (both Tracked and Wheeled) at the Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (VRDE) in Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra.
- Features: The platforms are amphibians fitted with hydro-jets for improved water obstacle crossing. They feature a 30 mm crewless turret coupled with a 7.62 mm PKT gun configured to launch Anti-Tank Guided Missiles (ATGMs).
- Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated Atma nirbhar high speed bullet train manufacturing plant Aditya in Bengaluru BEML today.
- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was named the Business Reformer of the Year 2025 at the prestigious Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence held in Mumbai.
International
- The World Health Organization has classified Bangladesh as facing a high risk of a measles outbreak, warning that urgent action is needed to address critical immunity gaps.
- Colombian President Gustavo Petro arrived in Venezuela to meet Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, marking the first visit by a foreign leader since the US operation that led to Nicolas Maduro’s capture in January this year.
Appointments
- Justice Lisa Gill was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court this evening, succeeding Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur following his retirement. Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer administered the oath of office to Justice Gill at Lok Bhavan in Vijayawada.
- Ashok Kumar Lahiri Appointed NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson; -The Government has reconstituted the NITI Aayog. Economist Ashok Kumar Lahiri has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Aayog. He will replace the current Vice Chairman, Suman K. Bery. Along with Mr Lahiri, the government has appointed Rajiv Gauba, Prof. K. V. Raju, Prof. Gobardhan Das, Dr M. Srinivas, and Prof. Abhay Karandikar as full-time Members of Niti Aayog.
