National

  • Summer crop sowing has covered over 69 lakh hectares across the country as of the 17th of this month. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare today released the data of summer crops.
  • Samriddh Gram initiative nominated for WSIS Prizes 2026 in Enabling Environment category-Samriddh Gram Initiative is being nominated for the World Summit on the Information Society Prizes 2026 under the Enabling Environment category. Launched by the Department of Telecommunications, the initiative is built under the BharatNet project.The Ministry of Communications informed that it delivers integrated phygital services combining physical infrastructure with digital platforms through Samriddhi Kendras, set up as one-stop service hubs in villages.Recently, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the first Samriddhi Kendra in Umri village of Madhya Pradesh, marking a significant step in expanding digital infrastructure at the grassroots level.
  • Chief Minister of Manipur Yumnam Khemchand Singh  today unveiled a memorial stone erected in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the bombing by Japanese forces that occurred on 20th April, 1943, during World War II at Khurai Chingambam Leikai in Imphal East.
  • The Ministry of Minority Affairs today has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Institute of Technology Patna under the PM VIKAS scheme to promote skill development among minority youth.The Ministry informed that under the initiative, 600 minority youth from Bihar will be trained in emerging job roles such as Artificial Intelligence Technocrat and Business Analytics Executive. The programme aims to equip participants with industry-relevant skills and improve their employability.

International

  • India and South Korea to increase bilateral trade to 50 billion dollars by 2030-India and South Korea today signed four MoUs for cooperation in the fields of Sports, Cultural and Creative Industries, Small and Medium Enterprises and for the establishment of the Industrial Cooperation Committee.
  • Bulgaria: Former president Rumen Radev secures decisive mandate in parliamentary elections-According to the Central Electoral Commission, Radev’s center-left Progressive Bulgaria coalition won nearly 45 percent of the vote.The election outcome comes after nearly five years of political turmoil in Bulgaria, marked by fragile governments and repeated elections.
  • 7th edition of India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise DUSTLIK 2026 being conducted at Gurumsaray Field Training Area.Ministry of Defence said that the exercise is aimed at enhancing interoperability and joint operational capability in semi-mountainous terrain, with a focus on special arms skills and special operations against unlawful armed groups.

  • Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia today said India Post has achieved a record revenue of 15,296 crore in the financial year 2025-26, registering a robust growth of 16% over the previous fiscal. 
  • NITI Aayog releases 7th edition of “Trade Watch Quarterly”-The Trade Watch Quarterly is a flagship analytical report published by NITI Aayog (India's apex public policy think tank) in New Delhi. It offers a data-driven snapshot of India's export-import performance, emerging global trade dynamics, and strategic policy recommendations to bolster the country’s manufacturing competitiveness.The thematic section of this quarter’s edition focuses on the nation’s gems and jewellery sector, examining global demand dynamics, India’s export profile, emerging segments such as lab-grown diamonds, and it’s positioning within global value chains.

It integrates five erstwhile schemes (Seekho aur Kamao, USTTAD, Hamari Dharohar, Nai Roshni, and Nai Manzil) to empower minority communities and traditional artisans.
