National

• High-Powered Task Force for Examination Reforms:The Union Government constituted a High-Powered Task Force to review and strengthen the country's examination system, with a focus on improving security, transparency and reliability and preventing paper leaks and other malpractices.
• The task force is headed by Nandan Nilekani.
• The Government of Odisha signed MoUs with HCLTech and Sarvam AI for establishing an AI data centre at the Odisha Sovereign AI Park in Bhubaneswar.The proposed projects involve an overall investment of around ₹14,257 crore. HCLTech's AI data-centre investment is around ₹730 crore, while a Global Development Centre is expected to create around 5,000 jobs and become fully operational by 2028. 
• Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA):Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today reviewed the progress of the Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) in New Delhi and reiterated the government’s commitment to making India a global leader in 6G technologies.
• The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) is an industry- and academia-led collaborative body launched by the Government of India on July 3, 2023. It drives indigenous design, testing, and deployment of next-generation 6G wireless technologies, positioning India as a global leader in telecom standards and manufacturing. The government launched an official roadmap aiming to design, develop, and deploy indigenous 6G technology by 2030.
• The government has introduced the system of registering e-Zero FIRs in cybercrime cases across eighteen states and Union Territories. Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar informed that more than 12 thousand cases have been registered under e-Zero FIRs. He said the centre has provided a platform to the states and UTs for registering e-Zero FIRs in cybercrime cases, specifically for cyber financial fraud cases.
• Tele-MANAS helpline:The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reviewed the nationwide expansion of the Tele-MANAS helpline, recording over 15 lakh counselling calls handled across 20+ regional languageTele-MANAS (Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States) is free, 24/7 mental health helpline launched by the Government of India. Call 14416 or 1-800-891-4416 to reach trained counselors for confidential support, guidance, and referrals in English and 20 regional languages.

International

• WHO Global Hepatitis Report Findings:The World Health Organization (WHO) released updated global surveillance data on viral hepatitis, highlighting that viral hepatitis remains the second leading infectious cause of death globally (claiming 1.3 million lives per year), primarily due to Hepatitis B and C.

Economy and banking

• India Records $4.7 Billion Current Account Surplus:India recorded a current account surplus of $4.7 billion in Q4 FY2025–26 (January–March 2026), reversing a $4.8-billion deficit in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.Strong services exports and remittances were among the important factors supporting India's external position

Sports and culture

• Gulveer Singh Wins Silver in Commonwealth Games 10,000m:Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh won the silver medal in the men's 10,000 metres at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
• Indian weightlifter Harjinder Kaur won silver in the women's 69 kg category at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Viral Hepatitis:

• Target Organ: Causes inflammation of the liver.
• Five Main Strains: Types A, B, C, D, and E.
• Hepatitis A & E: Transmitted predominantly through contaminated food and water (fecal-oral route); typically cause acute infections.
• Hepatitis B & C: Transmitted through infected blood, bodily fluids, unsafe injections, and mother-to-child transmission; can cause chronic infection, cirrhosis, and liver cancer.

• The e-Zero FIR is a digital system in India that automatically changes high-value cyber financial fraud complaints into Zero First Information Reports. Led by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, it speeds up police action and fund recovery during financial scams.
