• Anti-Paper Leak Bill Introduced in Parliament:The government introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening the legal framework against paper leaks, cheating and other unfair practices in public examinations.The proposed amendments seek tougher punishment and stronger accountability for organised examination malpractice.
• Parent law: Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024

•  National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA):The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs announced that 33 of 37 State/UT Legislatures had signed MoUs for implementation of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA).NeVA aims to transform legislative proceedings into a paperless, digital system, improving transparency and efficiency.
• Corporate Mitra Scheme Extended to Northeast:The Corporate Mitra Scheme was highlighted as an initiative to strengthen corporate-law awareness and compliance support in the Northeastern Region.The programme seeks to improve access to professional assistance and promote a stronger corporate ecosystem in the region.
• The Corporate Mitra Scheme is a government training and placement program launched after the Union Budget 2026–27 to create a pool of certified para-professionals who support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with compliance, accounting, and taxation.
• RKVY:Maharashtra Becomes First State to Qualify for Second RKVY Instalment.Maharashtra became the first state to qualify for the second instalment under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY).RKVY is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme designed to encourage states to increase investment in agriculture and allied sectors.

International

• NASA proposed the PRAXIS mission to study planetary rings and improve understanding of the structure and evolution of ring systems.Planetary rings are most prominently associated with planets such as Saturn, although other planets also possess ring systems.
•  Nathu La Pass :In Sikkim, border trade between India and China through the Nathu La Pass will resume from the first of next month, ending a suspension that has been in place since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• UNESCO Adds Mount Olympus to World Heritage List:Mount Olympus in Greece was among the sites added to the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 48th session of the World Heritage Committee.Mount Olympus is traditionally associated with Greek mythology and is regarded as the legendary home of the Olympian gods.

Economy and banking

• Government Approves Field Trials of Polymer ₹10 and ₹20 Notes:The Government approved the RBI's proposal to conduct field trials of polymer banknotes in the denominations of ₹10 and ₹20.The plan involves one billion notes of each denomination. The proposal was approved under Section 25 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.The trials will assess the suitability of polymer notes under Indian conditions. Existing paper notes will continue to remain valid

Sports and culture

• Indian shooter Esha Singh won gold in the women's 25m pistol event at the ISSF World Cup in Hangzhou, China.Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker won bronze in the same event, giving India a double podium finish
• Indian weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav clinched the silver medal in women's 53kg category at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow today.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)

• Origin: Raised on July 27, 1939, as the Crown Representative’s Police to assist British political representatives in princely states.
• Post-Independence: Renamed the Central Reserve Police Force under the CRPF Act, 1949.
• Parent Ministry: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA); it is the largest Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in India.

• Tenure as President: Served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.
• Key Scientific Role: Steered the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP), which developed five major missile systems: Prithvi, Agni, Trishul, Nag, and Akash.

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), 

• Rebranded as Pradhan Mantri-RKVY (PM-RKVY), is a flagship central government-sponsored scheme in India designed to promote holistic development, sustainability, and public investment in agriculture and allied sectors.
• Launched: Originally introduced in 2007, restructured as RKVY-RAFTAAR in 2017, and rebranded under PM-RKVY. 
• State Flexibility: Gives state governments full autonomy to choose, plan, and fund agricultural projects based on local district and state priorities. 
• Sectors Covered: Includes crop cultivation, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries, soil health, agricultural mechanization, marketing, and agri-startups. 
• Funding Pattern: Operates on a sharing ratio of 60:40 between the Central and State governments for general states, 90:10 for North-Eastern and Himalayan states, and 100% central funding for Union Territories.
