- INS Mahendragiri Commissioned into Indian Navy:The Indian Navy commissioned INS Mahendragiri, the sixth Project 17A Nilgiri-class stealth frigate, at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on 11 July 2026.Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the commissioning ceremony.The warship has approximately 75% indigenous content and was designed by the Indian Navy's Warship Design Bureau. It has been inducted into the Eastern Fleet.

- Project 17A is an approximate ₹45,000 crore Indian Navy initiative to build seven advanced, indigenous Nilgiri-class stealth guided-missile frigates. Designed by the Warship Design Bureau, the ships are split between Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers in Kolkata.
- The ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) warned that a possible El Niño event could influence marine conditions and affect the availability of Indian oil sardine.
- ICAR:The Indian Council of Agricultural Research is an autonomous body responsible for co-ordinating agricultural education and research in India. It reports to the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture. The Union Minister of Agriculture serves as its president.

- “Pillale Sampada” (Children are Wealth) :Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a major policy shift from population control to population conservation, saying human resources are the foundation of sustainable development.Addressing the World Population Day programme in Vijayawada today, he launched the “Pillale Sampada” (Children are Wealth) initiative and said that Andhra Pradesh would encourage balanced population growth to secure its future.
- PMFME Scheme: The Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme has crossed the milestone of sanctioning loans to more than two lakh micro food processing enterprises across the country. The Scheme has leveraged project investments of over 20 thousand 300 crore rupees and generated nearly 11 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities.

- Indian Air Force Ranked Third in Global Air Power Ranking:The Indian Air Force (IAF) retained its position as the world's third-most powerful air force in the 2026 WDMMA Global Air Powers Ranking.India was ranked behind the United States and Russia, while remaining ahead of China's People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).The ranking uses the TrueValueRating (TVR) methodology, which considers factors such as fleet composition, modernisation, logistics, operational capability and mission capability rather than simply counting aircraft.Top Three:United States,Russia,India.India retained the third position for the fifth consecutive year.
- India-New Zealand Sign Several Defence and Security Agreements:India and New Zealand signed a number of agreements covering maritime cooperation, hydrography, logistics support and counter-terrorism.The two countries also agreed to deepen cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.New Zealand also joined the maritime-security pillar of India's Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).

- IMF Projects India's Growth at 6.4%"The International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected India's economic growth at approximately 6.4% for 2026, keeping India among the world's fastest-growing major economies.The IMF's July 2026 World Economic Outlook Update also projected global growth of around 3.0% in 2026.

Project 17A is India's programme for building a new generation of guided-missile stealth frigates.
The Nilgiri-class comprises seven ships:

- Vindhyagiri
The frigates are designed for anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare.
