National

• First-Ever Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan to Be Held in Delhi on June 28–29-The two-day Sammelan will bring together Rural Development Ministers, senior government officials and experts from all States and Union Territories to deliberate on holistic rural development, review key flagship programmes and formulate the future roadmap for rural India.Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will chair the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan 2026.
• SARAS Aajeevika to Showcase the Spirit of Women-Led Rural Enterprise at Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan-The Ministry of Rural Development has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen branding and enhance market access for products made by women Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). To create a distinct national identity for SHG products, the Ministry has secured trademarks such as SARAS, SARAS Aajeevika and Aajeevika, which are being leveraged to promote and market SHG products at national, regional, state and district levels.To provide a permanent retail platform for quality SHG products, the Ministry established the SARAS Aajeevika Gallery at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi, showcasing curated products created by women Self Help Groups from across India.
• Air Suvidha 2.0 Launched:The News: The Ministry of Health upgraded the international travel screening platform to Air Suvidha 2.0.
• Features: A fully paperless, contactless digital health checkpoint that seamlessly syncs incoming passenger health logs in real-time with Airport Health Officers (APHOs) and the Bureau of Immigration to track transborder infectious disease threats.
• The Ministry of Finance officially elevated Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Limited from Miniratna Category-I to Navratna status.
•  This grants the defense public sector undertaking (DPSU) significantly higher financial autonomy to execute joint ventures and capital investments without prior government approval. It marks GRSE as India's 29th Navratna company.
• Centre implements Jan Vishwas Act reforms in health sector-The Centre has implemented the Jan Vishwas Act reforms in the health sector, rationalising minor offences under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said the reforms are aimed at promoting ease of doing business while maintaining stringent safeguards for public health and consumer safety.
• The Union Health Ministry has issued a draft notification proposing amendments to the Drugs Rules, under which imported drugs must have a minimum residual shelf life of 12 months at the time of import. The draft seeks to amend Rule 31 of the Drugs Rules, 1945.
• The Health and Family Welfare Ministry has notified amendments to the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011, to rationalise compliance requirements for food businesses. The amendments, notified through the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Amendment Regulations, 2026, are aimed at improving the ease of doing business.The Ministry said non-manufacturing food businesses, including retailers and other similar entities, have been exempted from certain compliance requirements.

International

• India secured the 13th position globally in the latest AI-Economy Readiness Index.
•  Notably, India ranked 1st among all lower-middle-income nations, pointing to high rates of digital public infrastructure implementation and rapid AI adoption relative to per-capita GDP.
• India launches Operation Amistad to support earthquake-hit Venezuela-India today launched Operation Amistad in response to devastating earthquakes in Venezuela that caused extensive loss of life, injuries and widespread destruction. Operation Amistad is a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief mission in a gesture of solidarity with the people of Venezuela. External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that as part of the operation, two Indian Air Force C-17 Globemaster aircraft departed for Venezuela this morning, carrying humanitarian relief supplies and a 41 member rescue team to assist the ongoing relief and rescue efforts.
• Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi will be on an official visit to New Delhi from the 1st to the 3rd of next month for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.
• India along with 34 nations sign US led initiative to build resilient AI supply chains:India, along with 34 other countries, has signed a US-led initiative to build trusted and resilient supply chains to support artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at the second Pax Silica Summit held in Washington yesterday.
• Bangladesh Joins India’s International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA):Bangladesh has officially signed on as the 27th member of the International Big Cat Alliance. Launched by India, the IBCA aims to conserve seven major big cats. The entry of Bangladesh strengthens transboundary wildlife protection and habitat tracking, particularly across the shared Sundarbans ecosystem.
• CAG India Signs Audit Pact with Israel: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India signed an MoU with the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Israel.
• Objective: Focusing on public sector auditing, developing digital audit tools, data analytics methodologies, and mutual capacity building.

Economy and banking

• Global investment bank Goldman Sachs has raised India’s real GDP growth forecast to 6.8 per cent for the calendar year 2026, from its earlier estimate of 6.5 per cent, citing easing oil prices and improving domestic economic conditions.

Sports and culture

• Chandigarh set to hold 3rd Asian Relays Championships 2027-Punjab Governor and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, today received the championship flag, which was formally handed over to Chandigarh during the closing ceremony of the 2nd Asian Relays Championships 2026 held in Shaoxing, China.
