National
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha. The LRLACM is an indigenously developed missile with all sub-systems developed by various DRDO laboratories and Indian Industry partners. The Defence Ministry said that all the test objectives were fully met during the flight test.
- India Becomes 3rd Largest Domestic Aviation Market: According to Official Airline Guide (OAG) data released this week, India has officially overtaken Brazil and Indonesia to become the third-largest domestic aviation market globally, trailing only the United States and China.
- Noida International Airport Commences Operations: Located in Jewar (Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh), the airport officially started commercial operations on June 15, 2026. Developed by a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, its Phase 1 is designed to handle 12 million passengers annually.
- WT-MARUT Portal :In a major boost to India's renewable energy sector, Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi today launched the Wind Turbine Supply Chain Management (WT-MARUT) Portal during the Global Wind Day 2026 National Conference in Goa.The WT-MARUT portal, developed jointly by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association (IWTMA), is the country’s first dedicated digital platform aimed at streamlining the wind energy supply chain. The initiative is expected to improve transparency in component sourcing, facilitate easier access to domestic suppliers, and enhance data security, further advancing the government’s vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
- Kavach project:Railways has approved a 201 crore rupee Kavach project for the Ambala Division of Northern Railway. Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system designed to enhance operational safety.
- Telangana Bans Paraquat: Telangana has officially banned Paraquat, a highly toxic synthetic herbicide/weedicide often used to clear grasses, due to its high toxicity and lack of a specific antidote.Telangana is the third state in India to ban this chemical. Kerala was the first to do so in 2011, followed by Odisha.

- PM Narendra Modi warmly received by Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini at Presidential Palace in Bratislava,marking the first-ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister since the country's independence in 1993.
- Danish ship Oresun:The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the National Museum of Denmark today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the underwater archaeological investigation of the historic Danish ship Oresun. The Culture Ministry said that the project is aimed at locating and documenting the remains of the historic Danish ship Oresund, which was wrecked off the coast near Karaikal, Puducherry, in the 17th century.The Oresund is a historic 17th-century Danish ship that sank off the southeastern coast of India near Karaikal, Puducherry, in 1619. Known as the first Danish ship to reach India.
Economy and banking
- India’s Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation accelerated to 9.68 per cent year-on-year in May under the newly released WPI series, compared with 8.26 per cent in April under the old series. The release marks the first major revision of India’s wholesale inflation series in over a decade, with the base year updated from 2012 to 2023.
- Retail Inflation (CPI) Status: India’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation for May/early June stabilized comfortably at 3.93%, safely remaining inside the Reserve Bank of India’s target range of 4% (± 2%).
