  • India’s Defense Exports Hit All-Time High: The Ministry of Defence announced that India’s defense exports reached a record ₹38,424 crore for the financial year 2025-26. This represents a massive growth of 62.66% compared to the previous year, driven by the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative.
  • Indian Navy commissions stealth frigate INS Taragiri at Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presided over the ceremony. Built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, the warship is the fourth vessel under the Project 17A class.
  • Exercise “Dweep Shakti”: The Indian Armed Forces concluded the tri-service exercise “Dweep Shakti,” focused on strengthening coastal and island security, particularly in the Andaman and Nicobar regions.Exercise Dweep Shakti was a high-intensity, large-scale Tri-Service military exercise conducted by the Indian Armed Forces from 24 to 28 March 2026.   • Education Ministry declares NCERT as ‘Deemed to be University’ under distinct category.The Ministry of Education, on the advice of the UGC, has declared the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as an Institution deemed to be a university under a distinct category. In its statement, the Ministry informed that an online application was uploaded on UGC Portal for grant of Institution deemed to be University status under distinct category to NCERT.
  • "Tides of Time": Vice President of India released a new book titled ‘Tides of Time’ authored by Sudha Murty. The book focuses on the historical murals and parliamentary heritage of India.

International News

  • IAF remembers India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw MC on his birth anniversary:The Indian Air Force (IAF) today remembered India's first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw MC, on his birth anniversary.Field Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw MC (3 April 1914 – 27 June 2008), also known as Sam Bahadur ("the Brave"), was an Indian Army general officer who was the Chief of the army staff during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, and the first Indian army officer to be promoted to the rank of field marshal.(Field Marshal is the highest, honorary five-star ceremonial rank in the Indian Army, held for life. Only two officers have been appointed: Sam Manekshaw (1973) and K.M. Cariappa (1986). These officers do not retire and remain part of the active army, serving as honorary architects of military victory).
